About Sinbad Sportfishing:
We are a family owned and operated, USCG inspected , Six passenger for hire vessel. Fishing throughout the year for a several species (Blues, Spanish, Triggerfish, Kings, Cobia, Drum, Sea Bass, Tilefish, winter rockfish) , the Sinbad runs a variety of trips in the sounds, ocean, and coastwise waters. Our crew has enjoyed vacationers from Corolla to the Hatteras beaches. We are presently docked at Oregon Inlet Marina which is located off Highway 12 on the North end of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge. The physical address for GPS is 12130 NC Highway 12 South 27959. We look forward to seeing you!
Boat & Captain:
Will McPherson
Captain Will McPherson has been fishing professionally out of Oregon Inlet since 1969. The first years as an offshore mate where tunas and billfish abound. By 1975 , Will ran his first offshore boat to the Marlin grounds. In 1981, he purchased his own boat which is now called the “Sinbad“. It didn’t take long to find a partner. In 1983 he was joined by his wife Vivian McPherson. The first few years she fished as a mate for both charter and commercial venues. Presently licensed also as a captain, she is right in the cockpit with the charters in efforts to show them there is more to fishing than just the bite! The boat as featured in the book “Carolina Flare”, is a custom built Warren O’Neal Sport fisher. True to her heritage she became a benchmark for successive yachts constructed in this style. Anyone familiar with N.C. cannot miss her lines. They are timeless!

Fishing Report:
New Year/New Gears!
2012 ushered in a new year, warm temps., and put us all into shifting gears! Normally this time of year we are in the rockfish but with the Spring like days still scattered through the month the bite has remained either in the gulfstream for tunas (for that you you need to contact that fleet) and bottom grounds deepwater for bass and tile. The rock report is still anchored above N.C. and almost Virginia as no hard shoves and snowfall keeps that fish on slow migration. As they show we will post it but as of this date for NC ocean crews, you are on the wait list. Thanks to all and hit our main site as we post! Viv McPherson
The Fish Wrapper! Bass and Triggs-Welcome to December
Thanksgiving week gave us the temps and calm weather and as we hit those windows we were rewarded with black sea bass and some triggerfish that were still making their way South! Rockfish continue their sally southward as they are Maryland side and as more fronts continue to push through-that will be the ticket. Small sharks continue for sport on ultra light as well. For the latest, hit our main site for the updates. Thanks ![]()
Fall Breezes In!
Fall has seen from the surf-puppy drum and speckles and as we enter the holiday week we are looking for warm 60's and sunshine in our forecast! We left the blues (snappers) prior to the breeze up (coldfront today folks) and as we get back out there, we will let you know what likes the bite! for the latest, hit our main site! thanks to all
Will & Viv
Lets hook it for tomorrow 10/13
We were in the quick bite again today! Half days saw taylor blues on the bite! There were some albacores (false) off the beach to be released and surf casters are still seeing some puppy drum in the surf! For the latest, hit our main site or our facebook site! thanks to my crew who saw us again without fail! To book with us just give us a call at Sinbadsportfishing 252 423 0039 cell/boat or evenings 252 473 2398 home. Cpts Will & Viv. Weather is due to be good for another 24! Lets go!
October’s Fallin In!
We have had a great time with our crews this week! We are still seeing great numbers of taylors, occasional albacores, and this week also saw just a few scattered small striped bass soundside (but know that this gain on stripers I have seen erased in one week if history dictates). We have another front due tonight so back to the dock we are until it moves through. For the latest hit our main site! thanks folks Viv McPherson & Will McPherson 252 423 0039 cell/boat
Back at Oregon Inlet 10/4
We are now bak at Oregon Inlet Marina. Fall is here, kayaks and surfers abound! A huge thanks to Broad Creek Marina for the terrific dock space, support, and congeniality while the docks were repaired at Oregon Inlet! If you want to hook it up, you can reach us on cell at 252 423 0039 boat/cell and we can schedule your trip! For the latest, stick with our main site! Thanks Viv McPherson
Get the Bite before the Blow! Lets Hook It!
We have really worked the water this week so far! We saw scattered Spanish last weekend, swell, some blues and one or two Spanish Mid Week, and today we saw a great blues bite, one or two Spanish, and our fist Fall Albert! We got the weather right now so lets hit it prior to the weekend. Give us a call to hook that trip up on our cell at 252 423 0039 cell/ boat. For the latest, hit our main site. Thank you to all who keep us untied from the docks as we appreciate it ! Viv & Will McPherson
We’re Ready to take you! 9/22 Catching!
Check out our main site for the details but we have enjoyed good numbers on small blues with one or two macks for good measure. Limits have been caught and the ocean continues to flatten! Don't let the weatherman fool you-I have arranged my customers trying to accommodate it so give us a call at Sinbad Charters 252 423 0039 cell/boat anytime or 252 473 2398 home eveinings. I have open slots the next two days so give us a call and lets hook it up! thanks ! Viv and Will McPherson
People, Places, and Fish!
You see our catches constantly but let us tell you now; it has always been about the people! We have had great crews this week with blues, Spanish, all in the mix at a great catching pace. Today sees a Cold Front with 8 ft seas and 25 gusting to 29. Everything known is now a clean slate until we get back out there next week. We are posting on facebook as well as our main site so stay up to date! Our main site is always the most detailed! If you have any questions you can reach us on cell at 252 423 0039 always! Thanks to my groups this week and to those scheduled next week-we are ready to get back to work! Viv McPherson
Still catchin after Katia! Hook it, its pretty!
We were back at it again today after last weeks good catches and we continue on the blues and Spanish bite for our crews! Weather is great right now but we have a hard coldfront due so jump with us while its good! You can see our latest on our main website http://www.sinbadsportfishing.com in the meantime, thanks to Michael Coppersmith and his crew for the great times today. Want to get going? call us now at 252 423 0039 cell/boat always on. and in the evenings on land at 252 473 2398 home thanks! Viv McPherson
Hooked & Cooked! Go Now!
This says it all! We set right back fishing this morning and were rewarded by Neptune for our efforts! We had four poles out and four poles on as quick as I could go! The Hernandez family knew that post hurricane it can be either way but they took the chance-it is fishing after all- and went home with a cart full! If you are getting in today, call us at home and let us get out there tomorrow as the seas are forecasted to swell back up again! Thanks and you can reach us at 252 423 0039 cell/boat. quickest way to get a hold of us as we are at Broad Creek Docks.
In the Water-New Location! Lets Cruise or Fish!
We are in the water and ready to go! I would advise a cruise of the sound but we will be glad to fish also! Winds are due to lay down but persist at 18 NE which keeps the inshore waters churned post hurricane. So cruise has been a nice way to get out and relax. With our home docks being fixed, we are currently with other vessels at
Broad Creek Marina
for GPS use
708 Harbor Road Wanchese NC 27981
YOU CAN MAPQUEST this also with great results!
We chose this marina as it adds only 4 min running time and keeps our schedule and costs the same! You are in the heart of my personal home turf and this is a great place for the Sinbad considering her history on the Banks.
As we catch it, we will post it but in the mean time, just give us a call to book whatever you may be interested in at
252 423 0039 cell/boat, and 252 473 2398 home.
We have many trips for many budgets. Lets hook it up!
Thanks to so many and make sure to stick to our home website for all the detailed directions and information
You can also find us on FACEBOOK.
Main site though will be the core of it.
Gerta & Mike: lol still here...thank you so much!
Cpts. Viv and Will
Welcome to September! Yikes!
First, welcome back to the beaches! The breeze is awesome, NE at 18, great temps on the upper beaches-enjoy! Second: most of us have not dropped back into the water yet! For inshore boats, we want in the ocean or fantastic fishing on the backside so personally, as the ocean is rough for us-we are taking our time. We should drop in sometime this week and as we get back to work, we will be posting what we know. We are watching Katia (hence Yikes) but there is no track yet. When we left we were still knee deep in a bite but all is new again so hit our main site for the "locals" notes. Thanks so much to all who made our season and buddy, we are ready to get back to work! Thanks V. McPherson
Home Run
Fishing has been great the last few weeks with blues, some Spanish, triggerfish seen on all days and one or two meandering mahi (always a bonus , not to be counted on nearshore)! This crew from the Carolinas hit a home run with plenty of action and smiles on their half day trip! Brother and sister were both lunging for the poles and kept pace back and forth! Our congrats! For the latest hit our main site. Ready to book it? Call us directly at 252 473 2398 h, 0r 252 423 0372 boat cell. We have some openings this week so get it while the getting is good! thanks so much folks! The McPhersons
It only takes ONE!
Fishing remains excellent for tailorblues, the best we've seen in a while! As the title says it only takes one or a few to charter a fishing trip. Marc from Apple Valley goes every year, even if its by himself to get out on the water and decompress. So if your looking to charter a boat just call 252-473-2398 or 252-423-0039 to make your reservation. You may also go to sinbad sportfishing to view additional photos and information. Thanks Capt Will
Bye Bye July!
Bye Bye July! Excellent fishing this past month has been a bonus as always! Breezes continue to keep us cool in the afternoon trips (yep we got em folks) and the species range from blues, occasional Spanish, to one shot on Big Reds this past week. You can find us on Facebook as well to see the latest Sushi Video! For the best bet, hit our main site! We still have slots available this week so call us to hook it up at 252 473 2398 h, or if fishing, call us right on the boat at 252 423 0039! thanks Viv McPherson
Jacobs crew with a limit
Fishing remains excellent with limits of tailor blues the norm this week as westerly winds prevail. Although the temps have been hot we've retained enough of a breeze on the water to keep our customers cool. The weather for next week looks great for boating so if your looking for a trip just call 252-473-2398 or 252-423-0039 to make your reservation.
Johnathan Greene fish
One of the most asked questions we get from our charters is why do they call them bluefish when they are green. Well thats green out of the water, but if you could see them in their natural enviroment which is swimming they actually show up a florescent blue. Their great to catch as a sportfish and to eat, as I fry mine in a beer batter with lemon and pepper seasoning. As we turn to the weather it appears that we are going to have a hot one this week. Calm seas should keep the fish biting, so if your looking for a trip we have some slots available, just call 252-423-0039 or 252-473-2398 to make your reservation.
Yo Hablo!
Our water temps are changing every day right now but when its hot, its hot! We had great Spanish fishing along with our taylor blues this past few days! Jeff's family was not left out as they hooked and cooked! Today is seeing Triggers on all day trips, blues on half with occasional Spanish. for the latest shots, hit our main site or check us out on Facebook! thanks to all! We have more openings this week so give us a shout on the cell for the slots! Viv McPherson
Tony and the kids
Tony and the kids had a blast catching numerous snapper blues and spanish mackeral thursday evening. The weather was picture perfect and the kids made the trip with their enthusiasim! Thanks from the crew! We have opening towards the end of the week so give us a call at 252-473-2398 or 252-423-0039 to make your reservations. Thanks Capt Will
Spanish Mackeral are snapping
Mackeral fishing has been steadily on the rise as a result of rising water temperatures along the beach. You'll also start to see increased numbers of trigger fish on the docks also. This afternoons photo shows just that as this young group of anglers caught their limit of spanish mackeral, as well as a few triggers.
Family Fishing on the OBX
Tailor bluefishing and spanish mackeral fishing continues to be the mainstay for anglers. Just call us at 252-473-2398 or 252-423-0039 to make aditional inquires about our services and to book your family charter. You may also go to sinbadsportfishing.com for a more comprehensive review of what is happening this week fishing.
The Blues continue to blitz
Fishing continues to produce large numbers of tailor blues and a few spanish mackeral. Over the weekend we saw good catches of cobia, some in the citation range. This continuing weather pattern should help to stabilize fishing along the beaches into next week. Just call 252-473-2398 to make your reservation. Thanks Capt Will
Memorial Day Approac!
Need to know? Know that we are catching and the weather is great! Our first time angler Tyson and his family didn't take long to catch dinner and then let the rest go! Four poles and go, go, go! For a more complete outlook check out our main site at sinbadsportfishing.com to those coming in, lets hook it up reach us at 252 423 0039 cell/boat or home 252 473 2398. thanks Viv McPherson
The Byte
The bluefish blitz is still going on! With limits on half-day trips it has given us great action for our anglers.. They are fun to catch both trolling and casting on light tackle! At the dinner table, mixed with coleslaw and hushpuppies, their considered a staple of outerbanks dining. For the latest hook ups go to sinbadsportfishing.com for additional photos and information on fishing.
The Canadians
Fishing today was fantastic! A bluefish blitz ! Our anglers made their way from the Great White North for some heat and were not disappointed! This is how we like to get our season rolling. For more pictures and info jump to our main website at sinbadsportfishing.com Thanks and lets hook it up! Will McPherson
Welcome to Spring 2011! Bring on the Heat!
Hey, we don't judge here so if you have got to kiss it due to joy....If you are our friends to the North take heart that the South is heating up slowly as well (our range is still 47-75F) and we are counting down till the Spring fishery gets into full swing! Last year saw good action so all will depend on how quickly the 42F water begins its warm up. If you are trying to see grass or sand underneath your feet then this is the place to be. Bug out! Check out our main site for the latest and as we get started into the Spring, we will post it! thanks again to all our regulars who keep us crusing right along and to those we shall meet for a first time-lets hook it up!

October “10/23/10” There Snapping
Fishing this week has been excellent. Large numbers of albacores and a few king mackeral have topped off our catches. Bottom fishing along the beach has also produced some great croaker and sea mullet catches. Continued good weather should keep the fishing at its best.
Get the Byte! 7/19
We have been on a huge run of trips of late so we are trying to keep up with it all! Great blues today and a big breeze of SW 20 kept our anglers cool. I would personally like to thank Joe and his wife who have fished us the last three days straight! It was a pleasure to take you and we could not have had it easier so for that, thank you!
